On Monday evening, your President and I attended a Tri Australia briefing on the insurance cover provided to members and affiliated clubs.  Unfortunately not everything we heard was good news.

For the last few seasons, the club committee has believe that an extra "club" policy it has taken out with Tri Australia had provided some level of personal accident insurance to club members who are not members of TriNSW or TryStars.  This is not the case.  Members who are not members of TriNSW or TryStars do not have any insurance while competing in sanctioned club races or participating at organised club training.

Therefore we encourage all members to join either TriNSW or Trystars to be covered by the association?s personal accident and public liability insurance cover.  Please note, the level of cover provided by the TA policy is much better than a few years ago and does now include cover while training sole (conditions apply).   We understand that Tri Australia will be providing further details about the insurance cover shortly, in the mean time please find attached a copy of the presentation which has details about the insurance cover provided.  If you have further queries you are able to contact Becky Mates at Tri Australia on 9972-7999 in relation the TA policy. Insurance Coverage

In relation to the Club sanctioned events, we need to change the entry fees in light of our new understanding of the insurance arrangements.  Club members who are members of TriNSW or TryStars entry fee will remain unchanged at $5.  Club members who are not members of TriNSW or TryStars, entry fee will increase by $5 to $10, to include the cost of a one day racing license.  This license will provide personal accident and public liability insurance protection while racing.  Non club members entry fee will increase by $5 to $15.

Please note from now on all competitors of sanctioned club races will need to complete an entry form to ensure that we comply with our insurance obligations.  We will have these entry forms on the club web site shortly to enable them to be pre-filed out to assist with race registration.

We understand that for some members this information maybe different to what you have been told previously, for this we apologies.  As the sport of triathlon has many inherent risks, personal accident and public liability insurance is an important consideration for all members and therefore we encourage all members to review their private health insurance cover and the insurance provided by Tri Australia.

Should you have any questions in relation to these matters, please contact either Andrew Wade 0417 449 962 or myself 0412 382 034.

Regards

Rod Clark

Membership Renewal

Just a reminder that membership is due now. I've attached both senior and junior membership forms and you can also get these off the website too. The ETC committee would like you to renew as close as possible to the 30th of June, so that your insurance coverage is kept valid, so you will be able to compete in all club sanctioned racing and training. ETC recommends seniors join Tri NSW and our juniors who are planning on competing and training externally to take up Trystars (7-15) and Tri NSW (15 +).

This season we are asking senior members and parents of junior members to sign the attached form in relation to the child protection act. The ETC committee understands this can be a sensitive issue and all filled out forms will be kept in a secured place. This is just risk management at a club level and all information will be confidential. If you have any questions please come and talk to one of the committee members at any ETC event.

Membership forms and child protection forms will be available at club races and club training.

Junior Duathlon

This weekend is the next round for the kids duathlon series. Remember to be there to register by 2 - 2.20pm. Check out the website for more details. We are asking for people volunteer to marshal this weekend. If you can reply to this email and let me know if you will be helping out.

Other News

  • Website. ETC will be launching the new look website. The current website has been updated.
  • Track Training. Don't forget track training is on each Wednesday night for both seniors and juniors( weather permitting ). With the new season coming up, we will be holding a time trial on the 5th of July. These will be held regularly throughout the season and a good gauge on your progress and it's also fun trying to beat your mates.

Membership

That’s right it’s that time of year again. Membership is now due for 2006/2007 season. New membership forms are on the website now under “How to join”. There has been no increase in membership this season and ETC has a big 06/07 planned. We are part way through the duathlon series with round 3 coming this month and we will also have fully sanctioned Aquathons & Triathlons planned for this coming summer. Let’s hope that that this season can be as successful as last season. You can send membership to the PO Box or bring it along to the next race. Remember that you must be a paid member to race in any of our sanctioned race.

Duathlon Round 3

This month ETC has round 3 of the Southside Runners Duathlon Series for both seniors & juniors. Check the race calendar for dates & times.
