2007

DECEMBER 12 2007

IMWA – well done to our club members who went over there and most smashed PB’s over the distance with Matt Griffin crossing the line in Sub 10hrs. Everyone looked sensational crossing the line on ironmanlive including Ben Sadlier, Joel McMahon, Slip Morris, Pete McDonnell, Cam James and Mark Warzunger. A valiant effort for Darren Matthews who paid the price for the distance and had to withdraw mid race.

5 November 2007

Congratulations to Stephen Tudjman, Bob Meers, Anthony Corr and John Hammerslag for nailing the toughest Half Ironman in Australia at Port Macquarie on the weekend. Further congratulations to Elaine Bolton, Darren Matthews and Donna Lloyd on completing Australia’s most popular triathlon, Noosa. Congratulations to Liam Rapley who came second in the Sri Chinmoy 8km at Beatty Reserve who did a lightening 31:16.

29 October 2007

A big weekend of racing with the State Junior Series at Gunnedah and the Nowra Olympic and Miniman triathlons put on by http://www.eliteenergy.com.au/ .

Whilst I don’t have the results of Gunnedah yet, I do have the results from Nowra.

My unnamed sources have advised that Matt Harris commentated the race and said the new gear looked great and gave plenty of plugs to our sponsors and the club which was great to hear from those down there.

Further to this, in the main event, we had Bob Meer’s win his age group and he now leads that age group in the Australian Olympic Distance Triathlon Series – he is currently the best in the land – well done Bob.

First home from the club was Mick Hurley and many others set personal bests such as Turbo Tim, Parkside and Brownie, Sue Flynn and Kerrie Wilsher. Joel McMahon had his second DNF in a row but rumour has it, he has sought out the wise counsel of Slippery Morris to overcome the jinx.

In the Miniman, the retro Andrew Wade tapered into the event by swimming 4k and doing the club run on Saturday to tear the event up and come 4th overall – well done Andrew. Big efforts were also had by Dave Skelton, Aaron Camp, Dave Hurley and Anje Kane.

Congratulations to Chris Stanton on his performance at the IronMan World Chamionships in Kona, Hawaii.

See Chris Stanton Finish

Triathlon Pink - Well done to those that competed with Emma and Samantha Davidson, Olivia Ludington and Amy Edwards putting on a fine performance.

14 October 2007

Congratulations to Chris Stanton on his performance at the IronMan World Chamionships in Kona, Hawaii. Chris had a split second decison to make 18 days ago whilst riding with Macca and Widoff and elected to go for the gravel rather than through a car when coming down a mountain in Colorado. Chris damaged his shoulder and hip real bad but still managed to compete today.

Chris nutted out a 9:49:55, with 56:29 swim, 5:17:09 bike and a 3:36:13 run for 217th overall.

In addition to this, Chris Stanton's performance was not alone today for ETC, rumour has it that Engadine Tri Club's own George Mifsud handed Macca the Australian flag that he crossed the line with.

11 October 2007

The Scody Australian Triathlon Club Teams Championship results are now up on the web site http://www.engadinetri.com.au/results.shtml. This is where little old Engadine came 4th in Australia.

Scody Trystars Triathlon at Penrith was held the next day and our juniors blitzed it, with Emma and Samatha Davidson both winning their age groups and Jarrad Maroney coming in 3rd. Good to see the kids having a go. There is also a kids race coming up at Triathlon Pink http://www.triathlonpink.com.au/sydney-4.htm in two weeks time and the first race of the State Junior Series is also at Gunnedah on 28/10/07.

8 October 2007

The Scody Australian Triathlon Club Teams Championship was held on the weekend at the Penrith Regatta Centre. Engadine Tri Club, being a small metropolitan Triathlon Club once again competed well above our weight and came fourth overall and was the highest placed Shire club (shameless dig). Also a sensational effort by BRATs in winning the event which should not go unnoted.

To enter roughly 30 members in a total senior membership of around 80 people was an outstanding effort and its great to see our club supporting races and the race directors that put these events on. If we don’t enter the races, they won’t be there in the future so well done. The club results will be on the website shortly and I would strongly suggest this race will comprise part of our Triathlete of the Year Award with the strong membership numbers that competed.

Check out the upcoming races on the Club web site www.engadinetri.com.au, it would be great to see as many people as possible at the upcoming local races at Kurnell and Cronulla.

And a special thanks to Andrew Wade for organising the teams for this and hopefully we will be back there next year with an even bigger show.

September 2007

Congratulations to Kim Tudjman for completing Singapore 70.3 and we wish Matt Griffin all the best in overcoming his arm injury after a nasty fall in the same race. Sounds like a great race…… for some.
