Engadine Triathlon Club
Engadine Triathlon Club was established in 1993 and started as Engadine Gym Triathlon Club. The patron from 1993 to 1997 was Steve Sproul. In July 1997, it became Engadine Triathlon Club, and in 1999 Engadine Triathlon Club became incorporated. Engadine Triathlon Club is a family focused social club and caters for all levels of fitness and abilities, with an emphasis on enjoyment and the encouragement of a healthy lifestyle. Members are from 6 years old and up with ETC having approximately 120 current club members.
ETC is based at Engadine pool on Anzac Ave, Engadine and meet there every Saturday morning at 7am (check website). There are also other training sets throughout the week, and ETC have fully sanctioned club races throughout the year - Aquathons (swim/run), Duathlons (run/bike/run) and Triathlons (swim/bike/run).
ETC caters for juniors 6-18 years of age. ETC, through its junior training and racing, promotes a non competitive, "do your Personal best (PB)", "encourage your fellow club mates", attitude! The ETC juniors were successful in winning the NSW State Junior Series for 05/06.
We all started by having a go – some of us are fast, some are slow but we all enjoy ourselves. So if you are interested in getting fit for summer, or challenging yourself, or looking for a healthy lifestyle, Swim, Bike, Run, Guaranteed fun!

When and where was your first triathlon?
Elouera Tri-Marathon 1983
Your first real bike was?
My brother lent me his Clamont racing bike to use in the Tri Marathon.
What do you ride now?
Orbea Ordu (I think that’s the proper name for it).
Your worst triathlon experience was?
Seeing George Mifsud in 2007 running down the finish chute in Hawaii carrying his favourite flag.
The best part about doing triathlons is?
Feeling fit and being able to train in the fabulous areas that we have at our doorstep.
What events do you have planned for this season?
If my foot holds up, I am planning on doing the Australian Long Course title at Falls Creek in February, then the Australian Olympic Distance Championships in Mooloolaba in March.
Your favorite training sessions are?
Swim: Saturday morning squad with Justine Maroney.
Bike: Early morning rides in National park chewing the fat with other dribblers.
Run: Long runs by myself out and back on the Woronora Dam Pipeline.
Your secret training nutrition is?
My secret nutrition is simple – all foods that are good for you. No junk at all and refraining from alcohol. But I tend to lie a bit.
What do you do when you are not training for or doing triathlons?
When not training, I unfortunately have to work. When I left school, I studied for 6 years at Gymea University to become a Sanitary Engineer. I am the Managing Director of a company that keeps waste flowing and fine tuning toilets.
Thanks Chris ... and don't forget, Chris holds two group run sessions on Wednesday and Friday mornings at Engadine. To find out more, contact Chris on 0419788885
